NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Parents, faculty and staff in different parts of North Texas are on alert today after threats were made at two different school campuses.

There is stepped up security at both Boles Junior High in South Arlington and T. W. Browne Middle School in Dallas.

In the Arlington Independent School District, someone wrote a disturbing message on a bathroom wall. The message at Boles Junior High read – “Get ready. Shooting all n*****s”. The message also said the shooting would take place at 1:30, on Wednesday December 2nd.

One mother, with children attending an elementary school near Boles, said she would have her kids in class as usual. “Do I pull them out of school every time a threat like this comes up and risk them losing a part of their education?” she asked. “Or, do I continue to leave them in school and wait to find out what happens from the media? It’s a tough call to make.”

After the threat at Boles, Arlington ISD administrators issued the following statement –

“We were made aware of a threat of a shooting written on a bathroom stall. We take any threat seriously and will not tolerate threats against our students. We worked closely with the AISD security department and Arlington Police Department to investigate, and the APD has determined that there is no credible threat. The safety and education of our students are top priorities. We will have a normal school day with additional security and police presence tomorrow.”

In the Dallas Independent School District, police are following leads as they investigate a threat made on the social media site Instagram. There was a picture posted showing a man pointing a gun at the camera.

The caption to the photo said, in part, “Everybody at T.W. Browne Middle School is gonna die. I’m going to kill everybody, even 6th and 7th graders.” The post also said that the person already had rape charges against them and that they were ready to go back to prison.

DISD officials said they don’t believe the threat is credible but aren’t taking any chances. Browne Middle School principal Jonathan Smith sent a letter home to parents that read, in part –

“Dallas ISD Police and the school administration are investigating an incident where a threat against the school was posted on social media. Out of an abundance of caution, we have requested support from Dallas ISD Police. The investigation is ongoing and we are taking this very seriously.
Please take this moment to reinforce the need to avoid making comments that threaten or harass others. Also, please continue to encourage our young men and women to report inappropriate comments or behavior to adults.”

Administrators at Boles Junior High also said that after investigation they didn’t think the bathroom threat was credible.

It will be a normal school day at Boles and T.W. Browne, but erring on the side of caution, both schools have additional security and police officers on site.
